NHN Group Secures Major Multi-Year Security Contract with Port of Newcastle

NHN Group is proud to announce that they have been awarded a multi-year security contract with the Port of Newcastle, marking a significant milestone in the company’s evolution and the port’s continued commitment to safety, innovation, and regional partnerships.

Under the new agreement, NHN Group will deliver a comprehensive suite of security services spanning static guarding, mobile patrols, access control, surge response, and security coordination across the port’s critical infrastructure. The contract will see more than 20 permanent staff supported by a scalable pool of trained casual and surge-ready Maritime Security Guards (MSGs).

“We’re proud to be selected as the Port of Newcastle’s security partner,” said Ben Dewson, CEO of NHN Group, “this is a deeply meaningful win for our business. We’re committed to delivering future-focused solutions that support the port’s people, operations, and community.”

The award followed a competitive tender process and recognises NHN’s blend of capability, critical infrastructure experience, and innovative technologies such as:

  • Facial recognition-enabled access control
  • Fatigue risk mitigation frameworks
  • Real-time incident and compliance reporting systems

The contract has already resulted in the creation of new roles in operations management, MSG coordination, and surge pool recruitment, demonstrating NHN’s investment not only in people but in a long-term, scalable and responsive partnership model.

While NHN has previously supported Port of Newcastle on specialist assignments, this marks the first ongoing, full-service security engagement between the two organisations.
