NHN Group Cleaning Case Study: Enhancing the Appearance of Tiles at Lume Apartments

About Lume: 
Lume Apartments is a prestigious seven-story mixed-use development located in the heart of Honeysuckle, Newcastle. This waterfront complex comprises 138 bespoke apartments, 10 terraces, and three commercial/retail spaces on the ground floor, catering to both residential and commercial needs. 

The Challenge: 
NHN Group was responsible for regular cleaning services at Lume Apartments, including the vacuuming and mopping of the residential levels. However, our team soon noticed that the standard mopping routine wasn’t effective in maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of the tiled surfaces. The tiles remained stained, and regular mopping was insufficient in removing the grime, leaving the floors looking dull and unappealing. 

This issue was also highlighted during a routine audit conducted by NHN Group, reinforcing the need for a more thorough cleaning process to bring the tiles back to their optimal state. 

Solution: 
NHN proposed an enhanced cleaning solution to address the issue—machine and deck scrubbing of the tiles. This approach was designed to provide a deeper clean, using equipment that could effectively agitate and remove stubborn stains that regular mopping was unable to tackle. 

Outcome: 
The results were immediate and impressive. The tiles’ appearance improved significantly, restoring their shine and cleanliness. The success of this deep cleaning process prompted the Lume committee to adopt it as a regular maintenance task. It was agreed that machine and deck scrubbing should be carried out bi-annually to maintain the enhanced level of cleanliness. 

Additional Considerations: 
Implementing the new cleaning procedure required additional resources, including specialised equipment and extra labour. However, the investment was worthwhile, as it significantly improved the overall cleanliness and aesthetics of the property, leaving both the client and the residents highly satisfied. 

Conclusion: 
By identifying the limitations of the initial cleaning approach and recommending a tailored, more effective solution, NHN Group was able to significantly enhance the appearance of the residential tiles at Lume Apartments.
